Matraș Valentin has been crafting wickerwork for almost 30 years, and has attended fairs and exhibitions ever since. He is from Vorona, a locality which is famous throughout the country and abroad for the richness and value of its folklore, for its groups of amateur artists, for its ethnographic and folk art museum. Valentin Matraş learned the craft of cane wickerwork from one of his grandparents, and had personal notable achievements. He is now famous for the products taht he creates (high-backed chairs, round tables, coat racks and shelves, as well as a wide range of baskets used as containers on various occasions). He attended craft fairs held in Botoşani, Iaşi, Vaslui, Bucureşti, being recognized for his talent and skills. His wife works alongside with him.
